Canadian Wilderness Fly-in Fishing and Hunting Trips

June 22 2013

Finally warming up here at Atikwa lake lodge. Fishing has been pretty good with walleye still being caught shallow with bottom bouncers and pink or yellow spinner rigs and white twister tails, 1/8-1/4 oz all tipped with leeches or crawlers. North end bays, musky bay, and Horseshoe has been producing. Northerns are finally hitting on the rocky reefs instead of just in the bays and lakers are stacking up next to camp, off Joes point and Tail Bay.

Roy Rosbacka group usually is one of our first groups in May but had to move to mid june because of ice. They still caught his usual large amounts of trout and northern. Always trolling spoons or Rapalas. The Craig Siverhus family has come for probably 7th year in a row and always one of our favorite weeks. We have gotten to see all their boys growing up over the years and nothing is better than to see Craig and Hope and the boys grandpa, Jim,  bringing up the kids with a love for  Mother Nature and the outdoors. Too few parents are doing that these days. They caught some nice fish, Craig had a musky on that didnt fit in the net but they did catch several in 2 days. The boys did their usual fishing and exploring, jumping off 40′ jump rock and climbing 75′ white pine. Jim brought a friend of his, Marilyn,  from Arizona. A truly fine lady who was extremely tough, fishing for hours on end. Jim showed her how to catch walleye in several different spots. He seems to always find them every year but it was hard to find fish that weren’t too big.  Hope…… what can I say? Send some pictures so I can prove you caught some fish.

Water surface temp is around 70 and there is fronts now coming thru so we’ll see what that does. Saw some Bear and a Bull moose near camp lately. Email if you have any questions.
